Yesterday, I went to the farmers' market in Oakland.
This was an unexpected sighting at the heart of Chinatown market. It was perched on top of a car for a good 20 minutes. It wasn't bothered by the people walking in the sidewalk. Maybe it just needed a rest. I'm not familiar with this bird so I don't know if that's their normal behavior. If anybody knows, please tell me. Thanks!
Update: Kayleen at Nebraska Birding said it's a Black-crowned Night Heron. Thanks Kayleen!
Thanks also to Bruce!
I do hope it found its way back home too!
Whatcha looking at? Huh?
