Fourth of July: Jack London Square

Independence day! Pangga and I decided to see the fourth of July fireworks display at Jack London Square. As part of the American tradition, we planned to have a barbecue at home but changed our minds when we learned that there would be barbecuing at Jack London Square.

We also planned to watch "Hancock" played by Will Smith. It was scheduled at 3 o'clock so we had an hour to have drinks. We went to Kimball's Carnival Billiard and Pizzeria. We chilled out for a bit.

We had time to go back there before the fireworks display, so we played billiards. I lost 6 times in a row. (huhuhu) I want a rematch!

The movie "Hancock" was great! When we saw the previews, we thought that the producers were giving the whole story away. They proved us wrong. The twist to the story, regarding Charlize Theron's role, caught us by surprise. I'm not spoiling it for those who haven't watched it yet. You've got to find it out for yourself.

We finally went to the fair and it was teeming with people. There was live music and entertainment for the whole family. The crowd didn't bother us this time since there was positive energy all around.

The smell of barbecue was driving us crazy and finally decided on a Thai rice veggie bowl topped with beef and chicken barbecue. We sat on the pier steps and enjoyed our lunch. It was a funny scene because I was an Asian eating my food using a fork while Pangga, an American wearing a Mexican t-shirt, ate his food using chopsticks. Pangga said that he saw a lot of people curiously watching/ looking at him. (hehehe)

Beef, Pork and Chicken barbecue.
Hotdogs!

Photo of bills (below) was taken inside Heinhold’s First and Last Chance Saloon, Jack London Square. It was built in 1883 from the timbers of a whaling ship.

People waiting for the fireworks display.

We found a nice spot for viewing the fireworks.

Breathtaking fireworks accompanied by famous American music and national anthem which was performed by a local orchestra. I think the fireworks display lasted about 15 to 20 minutes. Awesome!

I didn't take a lot of photos because it's better to just watch and savor the moment.

Below is a brief glimpse of the fireworks.
