SF 49ers vs. SL Rams

Nov 16
Went to watch our team play against the Rams today.

Photographers lined up with their power cameras early in the game.

SF 49ers vs. SL Rams.

Touchdown by the 49ers!

Current score: 49ers- 14 & Rams- 3.
49ers going for a 3rd touchdown: 3rd and 1 during the 2nd quarter at 8 mins to go.

Our team just intercepted near the 40 yard line. WOOT! Going for the 4rth touchdown with 3 mins to go at the 2nd quarter.

This time, going for our 5th touchdown with 40 seconds to go before the end of the 2nd quarter!

Rams' fans leaving. Sorry guys.

Scoreboard showing the score: 49ers- 35 & Rams- 3, 34 seconds before the 2nd quarter ends.

The wave started until it reached our section. ROOAARRR!

Young 49er fan.

We left around the middle of the 4rth quarter. The 49ers were starting to goof around with penalties (2 straight false starts) and it was frustrating to watch. We knew we won anyway. Maybe they were tired but I still think they should keep playing well even at the last quarter of the game. But they still did a pretty good job today.

Our team finally got their 3rd win of the NFL season after many disappointing losses. Final score: 49ers- 35 & Rams- 16. Our team didn't score after the first half while Rams got 2 field goals during the 3rd quarter and a touchdown on the 4rth.

The Singletary- Martz duo as head coach and offensive coordinator is making progress with the 49ers team. We might not be winning all the games now but seeing how stronger the team's overall offense and defense tactics at present, there's still successful future ahead of them. Go team!

One sad news of the day though. Our other team, Chicago Bears loss their game today against the GB Packers. *sigh* You win some, you lose some.

Barack Obama wins!

Nov 5

Followed the election all day through our local news channel. When the electoral votes were counted, I kept calling Pangga, who was with Darrell at Harrington's, to keep him updated on the results. Obama was pulling ahead and when McCain conceded, I told them to watch the news. It was all so exciting!

Barack Obama became the first black President of America. I told Pangga that those Sci-Fi movies featuring a black President is not so "futuristic" anymore. It has finally happened!

When I chatted with Elaine and Christopher online, they were drinking champagne already. A lot of people were out celebrating too. What a heady night.

US president-elect Barack Obama's acceptance speech:

This is one of the headlines in the news the following day: Obama wins historic US election.

A very defining moment indeed!

Oct 25

This year, Jonnie and Katy hosted a Halloween party a week before the actual "all souls day". So friends who have kids can spend time with their family on the following week.

They decided to have the party at their mom's place, Mother Thornberry. The place turned out awesome with spiders, cobwebs and other scary decorations. More photos posted at my Flickr site.

Scary welcome.

Soapbox Race

Oct 18

It's both our first time to watch the Red Bull Soapbox Race, so we were so excited. When we arrived in Dolores Park, we knew others were excited as well because a sea of people showed up. It was hard to move through the crowd and get a closer view of the race. That's probably why the committee put up huge screens in the park so that people could still follow the race from afar.

Below is a Red Bull soapbox cart. A soapbox car is a motorless vehicle capable of holding a driver built for the purpose of racing or recreation. Propelled by gravity, soapbox cars can reach upwards of 50 km/h (30 miles per hour). Originally, soapbox cars were built from wooden soap (or orange) crates and rollerskate wheels, but have grown more sophisticated over time, with materials like aluminum and fiberglass being utilized. -http://en.wikipedia.org/

It was definitely an enjoyable experience. It was fun to watch the cart's capacity to reach the finish line. Some broke down in the middle and didn't make it. More fun photos posted on my Flickr site.

"Spectators from all over came to Dolores Park to watch over 30 teams compete for Red Bull Soapbox Race fame." -http://www.redbullsoapboxusa.com/

Above is the Mission Dolores (San Francisco de Asis), the oldest building in the city. It was founded in 1795 by Franciscan missionaries and built by Native Americans.

The Women's Building, Valencia St., San Francisco.

"Home to a dozen feminist groups, the mural covering the whole building is an epic retelling of the history of women in the New World and a grand example of the Central American artistic tradition."
